CORONAVIRUS

The worldwide outbreak of Coronavirus is one of the most challenging things we have faced in nearly ten years of running The West Yorkshire Sling Library.

We have closed all drop in sessions with immediate effect on Wednesday 18th March 2020, and all 1-2-1 appointments requiring face to face contact have been suspended from Saturday, 21st March 2020. These steps have been taken to protect our customers and their families, as well as our helpers and volunteers.

With a constantly evolving situation which is devastating lives and businesses across the country, we have made the decision to continue providing our services, to help families in isolation provide close connection to their children, and to take exercise outdoors safely where possible.

Beginning on Monday, 23rd March, all of our existing hires will be offered on an entirely PAY AS YOU FEEL basis. This includes all carrier hire services, online support, virtual sling library sessions, and virtual bookable appointments using video chat*

Our ethos has always been to offer sling and carrier support to any family needing it, our drop in sessions have always been free to attend, our carrier hire fees have always remained low, and we have always offered independent support with any type or brand of sling or carrier. We want that to continue. We are a support service, but also a local business supporting our own family, and we hope that anyone in a position to support us in this difficult time will do so. But we also want to reassure all our users that, regardless of your personal or financial position right now, you are welcome to use our service.

We will be contacting all of our hirers individually by email, but we’d welcome you getting in touch with us. We will need to hear back from you to activate this pay as you feel service.

CARRIER RETURNS

You are welcome to return your carrier and we have two main ways for you to do so.

DROP BOX at the sling library house Farsley – this can be used for returns any time 24/7 with no face to face contact required. It is a wooden box next to the front door at 55 Thornfield Avenue Farsley Leeds LS285HJ. Please place it inside a sealed plastic bag with your name affixed to the outside.

POST – we can accept returns by post, courier or Royal Mail, here is a list of parcel drop boxes which can be used by printing out postage at home and dropping off without face to face contact https://www.royalmail.com/d8/parcel-post-boxes

NEW HIRES

We are happy to send carriers out to you on new hires. We are being very strict with safety and hygiene including washing and isolating every carrier for a minimum of 72 hours between uses. We are able to offer new hires on a collection basis (using the drop box at Farsley) or send them out by post. Our new hires will be charged at the standard hire rate, but should this situation continue past their return dates, we will offer the same pay as you feel service to new hirers at that time.

SUPPORT US

If you’d like to support our service, or offer carrying help and support to friends or family, we have gift vouchers available to purchase. If you’d like to pay it forward, we can accept hire payments (£10) which we can credit to a family who is struggling. Gift vouchers for 1-2-1 appointments are also available – we have £20 vouchers for our Recommend and Fit service and £30 vouchers for our Introduction to Carrying sessions. If you already have a gift voucher to use, we are abolishing all expiry dates on all vouchers for use into the future.
